About the race
The Pegasus World Cup Invitational is a G1 race over 1 1/8 miles on dirt for four-year-olds and upwards at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It was launched in 2017 by 1/ST, which owns the event, and is run on Pegasus World Cup Day in late January alongside the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational. The purse was USD 3 million in 2025 and 2026, and the organiser says runners must compete free of any medications on race day.
White Abarrio won the ninth running on 25 January 2025 by a stakes-record 6 1/4 lengths from Locked, for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. Skippylongstocking, also trained by Joseph, won the tenth running on 24 January 2026 under Tyler Gaffalione for owner Daniel Alonso. Gulfstream Park has scheduled the 11th running for 30 January 2027 and said on 9 October 2026 that the purse would be announced shortly.
