About the race
The Tattersalls Gold Cup is a Group 1 race over 1m2f110yds on turf at the Curragh, Co. Kildare, for four-year-olds and upwards. The Curragh Racecourse stages it on the Sunday of its Tattersalls Irish Guineas weekend in late May, alongside the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas. The 2026 running carried total prize money of EUR 500,000. According to the Curragh, Tattersalls has sponsored the race since 1985 and in May 2025 agreed to remain title sponsor until 2028.
The 2025 running on 25 May went to Los Angeles, ridden by Ryan Moore and trained by Aidan O’Brien, who beat Anmaat by half a length. The IFHA rated it at 121.50, joint tenth in the world for 2025. On 24 May 2026 the British-trained Almaqam won by two lengths for trainer Ed Walker and owner Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, with Bay City Roller second.
