What it supplies
Charles Owen is a family-owned manufacturer of riding helmets with its facility at Royal Works, Croesfoel Industrial Park, Wrexham, North Wales. Its history page says Charles Owen founded the company in 1911, first making tropical pith helmets and then military helmets, before moving into motorsport headwear and, after the Second World War, riding helmets.
The company states that it has remained in the same family for four generations and is now directed by the founder’s great-grandson. It says it created the first dual-standard riding helmet in 1983 and was awarded a Royal Warrant that year as protective headgear supplier to the Royal Mews. Its current range includes riding helmets, velvet and peaked helmets, Mips helmets, jockey skulls, children’s helmets, body protection, helmet silks and helmet care products. The company rebranded in 2025.
