What it supplies
Oakley Horseboxes, whose contact page names Oakley Coachbuilders Ltd, builds bespoke horseboxes. Its about page says the business began in 1947 in a small shed at High Cross, Hertfordshire, where Brian Oakley built his first horsebox with his father, and that a factory unit at Besthorpe, Norfolk, opened in 1974 and remains part of its production line.
The company states that it builds each box to individual customer requirements, with living accommodation, slide-out sides and roofs, and bespoke kitchen units made on CNC machines. It reports a workforce of more than 100 skilled employees and says its boxes are exported and used by police and mounted forces, horse transport companies and charities. According to its site, it received an award from the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers in 2014.
