About the venue
The New York Racing Association (NYRA) reopened the rebuilt Belmont Park on 18 September 2026, with a fall meet running to 6 December. NYRA’s website describes a new grandstand built around a five-storey building of roughly 300,000 sq ft, an infield open to racegoers for the first time, and a dirt track, two turf courses and a new synthetic all-weather surface. It lists the 2027 Belmont Stakes for 5 June 2027 and the Breeders’ Cup World Championships for 29 and 30 October 2027.
amNY reported that the rebuild cost $455 million and took about three years, funded by a state loan approved in 2023 that NYRA will repay from Resorts World New York City casino revenue. It also reported that the upper floors of the grandstand are due to be finished next spring and that capacity on major days will reach 50,000. NYRA’s page does not state the cost or capacity.
