What it supplies
LGC is a science and testing group whose locations page lists UK laboratory and office sites including Cambridge (Fordham), on Newmarket Road just outside Newmarket, and LGC Standards offices in Mumbai and New Delhi. At Fordham, LGC’s Sport and Specialised Analytical Services (SSAS) unit carries out drug surveillance, doping control, research and supplement analysis, and hosts the principal laboratory for the Informed Sport and Informed Choice programmes.
In an April 2019 news release, LGC said the Fordham laboratory had provided forensic drug testing to British horseracing since 1963 and was then working under contract with the British Horseracing Authority. It also said it had tested the equestrian events at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics, and that around 380 scientists worked at the site. LGC offers animal sports testing, medication and doping control as a service line.
