About the race

The Coral-Eclipse is a Group 1 race over 1m 1f 209y at Sandown Park, the Jockey Club course at Esher in Surrey. It is open to three-year-olds and upwards, and Sandown describes it as Britain’s first major all-aged Group 1 of the season. The race was first run in 1886. Coral first sponsored it in 1976, and the 2025 running was the 50th under Coral’s name. Prize money was raised to GBP 1 million for 2025, the first time the race had carried that figure.

The 2025 running, on 5 July, went to Delacroix, trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, with Ombudsman second and Ruling Court third. Constitution River won the 2026 running on 4 July for the same trainer and jockey. Sandown lists the next Coral-Eclipse Day as Saturday 3 July 2027.
