What is planned

The Jockey Club announced on 16 March 2026 that it plans to redesign the Weighing Room at Cheltenham Racecourse as a multi-storey building, with improved facilities for participants and officials, first-floor and rooftop Garden Terrace hospitality and more food and drink outlets. The scheme is subject to planning approval. The same announcement listed a major upgrade of areas of the main grandstand and refurbishment of The Centaur and the Gold Cup suite.

The plans are part of a five-year programme across its racecourses, including Aintree and Epsom Downs, that followed a 20-year partnership with Levy, part of Compass Group UK and Ireland, which The Jockey Club said is worth £100 million to it. No cost or timetable was given for the Cheltenham works, and the club’s full-year results statement of 13 July 2026 did not report a planning decision.
