About the race
The Arima Kinen (The Grand Prix) is run in late December over 2,500 metres of right-handed turf at Nakayama Racecourse in Funabashi, Chiba, for three-year-olds and upwards, with a maximum field of 16. The JRA says it was established in 1956 as the Nakayama Grand Prix and renamed a year later after the death of the JRA’s second president, Yoriyasu Arima. The ten entries with the most votes in a fan poll are entitled to run, with the rest of the field decided by earnings. It became an international G1 in 2007. The 2026 running is on 27 December with a total prize fund of JPY 1,090,000,000.
The 70th running, on 28 December 2025, went to the three-year-old Museum Mile, ridden by Cristian Demuro and trained by Daisuke Takayanagi for Sunday Racing Co., Ltd. He won by half a length from Cosmo Kuranda, with Danon Decile third.
