About the race
The Qatar Prix du Jockey Club, the French Derby, is a Group 1 Classic over 2,100 metres on turf at Chantilly, run by France Galop in late May or early June. It is open to three-year-old colts and fillies and was worth EUR 1.5 million in 2026. France Galop says the first running was at Chantilly on 24 April 1836, and that the race was shortened from 12 to ten and a half furlongs in 2005. It is the first of France Galop’s Arc Races.
On 1 June 2025 Camille Pissarro, ridden by Ryan Moore and trained at Ballydoyle by Aidan O’Brien, beat Cualificar by half a length. The IFHA rated that running at 116.00, joint 92nd in the world for 2025. On 31 May 2026 Constitution River won the 186th running, with O’Brien training the first three home.
