About the race
The Prix Jacques Le Marois is a Group 1 race over 1,600 metres on the straight course at Deauville-La Touques, run by France Galop in mid-August during the Meeting de Deauville Barrière. It is open to three-year-olds and upwards and was worth EUR 1 million in 2026. France Galop says it was first run in 1921 in memory of Count Jacques Le Marois, a former president of the Société des Courses de Deauville. The Aga Khan Studs have sponsored it since 2025.
On 17 August 2025 Diego Velazquez, ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer Aidan O’Brien, held Notable Speech by a nose; it was Soumillon’s fourth win in the race. The IFHA rated that running at 119.50, 31st in the world for 2025. On 16 August 2026 Rayif won for the Aga Khan Studs, their first win in the race since Kalamoun in 1973 and France’s first since 2017.
