About the race
The Queen Anne Stakes is run over one mile (1,600 metres) on turf at Royal Ascot for four-year-olds and upwards, and has been the opening race of the meeting since 2008. Ascot says it was founded in 1840 and commemorates the monarch who established racing at Ascot in 1711. It was run as the Trial Stakes until 1929, became a Group 3 race in 1971 and Group 2 in 1984, and was raised to Group 1 in 2003. Royal Ascot 2027 runs from 15 to 19 June; Ascot has not yet published the 2027 order of running.
On 17 June 2025 Docklands, trained by Harry Eustace for O T I Racing, beat Rosallion by a nose, giving the Australian jockey Mark Zahra a winner with his first ride at Royal Ascot. In 2026 Ten Bob Tony won for trainer Ed Walker and jockey Kieran Shoemark, with More Thunder second.
